Interview check list
Interviews

Feeling prepared for your interview is critical.

Check out our quick checklist of things you can do before your interview to make you feel prepared and ready for the task ahead.

Research
Take the time to research the organisation you are going to; thoroughly read the job description; check out the company’s website and social channels; and look into their competitors. This shows you are genuinely interested in the company and in getting hired.
Practise interview questions
You can look up common interview questions and practise how you would answer them. Look to draw from your own experience and how you can relate to the specific tasks involved within the job description. Remember to practise what you are planning on saying out loud—does it come naturally to you, or would it be better to think of a different way of phrasing things?

Study the job description
Understand what skills are needed, and write down some questions you could ask the interviewer about the requirements. Draw upon your own experience to show you can relate to the role.

Dress the part
It doesn’t matter what role you are going for; you should always dress professionally and be suitable for the role. It is a good idea to get your interview outfit ready before the morning of the interview so you are not rushing around before you leave.

Speak to your recruiter
If you have gone through an agency, it is always a good idea to speak with your recruiter before your interview. They can prepare you, give you advice and guidance, and let you know of any insights they may have about the company.

Arrive prepared
Bring copies of your CV to the interview. It is unlikely that the person interviewing you will not have a copy of your CV, but it is best to be prepared. This also ensures that you have something to refer to during the process. Bring a pen and paper with you to take notes if required.
